Training
Toshiko Kamo and her 2 colleagues participated in a PCIT training workshop in Trauma Treatment Training Center (TTTC) in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, USA in 2005, per recommendation from Professor Frank Putnam. The PCIT 5-day training workshop by Erica Pearl and Erna Olafson from TTTC was held twice in 2008 and 2009 at TWMU. So far 32 Japanese professionals received PCIT training; the professional backgrounds of participants have been psychiatrist, certified clinical psychologist and para-psychologist. In May 2010 Toshiko Kamo and Tami Yanagita completed a 5-day training workshop in Gainesville, Florida with Professor Sheila Eyberg and her team. On the opportunity of the Biennial International PCIT Convention in 2011, 4 Japanese PCITers could brush up their skills in the pre-convention workshop.

Research
The PCIT-A manual being used in TTTC has already been translated into Japanese. Currently a PCIT treatment study is being conducted at TWMU to confirm the efficacy of PCIT for children and parents in Japan. The research group is also working on a translation of the PCIT original manual by Professor Sheila Eyberg and materials including DIPCS-III and ECBI, and normatization of the ECBI. A randomized controlled study is now in preparation.
