Norway
Brief program description
We started using PCIT in Norway in 2000. Since then PCIT has spread across the country. Currently approximately 30 PCIT-therapists work in 10 different mental child health clinics, located in almost all parts of Norway. Furthermore, during the last years, two teams from Child Protection Service started using PCIT to help the families they work with.

Training
Anne Kristine Wormdal and Åse Bjørseth were trained as PCIT-therapists by Dr. Eyberg and Dr. McNeil. They have also completed the trainers-in-training course with Drs. Funderburk and Nelson at the University of Oklahoma. Anne Kristine Wormdal and Åse Bjørseth are responsible for in-country-training in Norway.
Activities and events
Therapists in the different regions meet regularly for discussing PCIT-cases and supervision. Our workshops in basic PCIT-training follow the recommendations from PCIT- International and consist of 40 hours of training, followed by supervision.
Research
The Norwegian PCIT-study is a 5-year randomized controlled trial comparing PCIT to treatment as usual and is conducted in two ordinary mental health clinics. The study includes data from 70 families with children ages 2-7 years, referred for problems with behavior (ECBI-score above 90th percentile), attention and/or interaction. Assessment consisted of: Preschool Age Psychiatric Assessment (PAPA), DPICS, Working Model of the Child Interview (WMCI), Achenbach’s Child Behavior Checklist/Teacher Rating Form, Beck Depression Inventory, Parental Locus Of Control and Parenting Stress Index. Follow-up data is collected 6 and 18 months after onset of treatment. Data collection is expected to be completed within the next 6 months. We plan to publish study results within the next two years.
